Kochi International Marina

Kochi has recently became a favorite place of Luxury cruise lines. During the last one decade, Kochi had become a major destination for sea-based adventure tourism. On an average 100 yachts visit Kochi every year of which majority is from European countries such as the United Kingdom, Finland, Norway, New Zealand and Australia.

Kochi is the nearest port on the international maritime route between the west and the east thus favouring the start for 'Kochi International Marina'.

DSC06655 The Kochi International Marina started its operations on April 24, 2010.
Its located on the eastern coast of Bolgatty Island in the premises of the Bolgatty palace.

It is owned and managed by the KTDC(Kerala Tourism Development Corporation).
Set-up in International Standards, it is the first full-fledged marina in India constructed by the Ocean Blue Marinas.

The marina provides berthing facility for 42 yachts(will be further upgraded to more) and also offers services like fuel, water, electricity and sewage pump-outs for boats. Facilities like Golf Course, Swimming Pool, Spa, Health Club, Restaurant and Beer Parlour are available for the sailors.

The marina is close to the international maritime route at the south west coast of the Indian Peninsula, with favorable conditions and minimum tidal variations throughout the year.

By providing the adequate facilities for the yacht owners and their crews, this marina augments the tourist flow to Kerala, which is one of the most desired tourist destinations in the world. It provides a base for visits to neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Floating docks built on concrete beams is the major attraction of the project. A board walk - wooden structure protruding into the back waters in order to facilitate other tourists to see the yachts has also been arranged.

Bolgatty Palace is located on the island popularly known as Bolghatty Island in Kochi, Kerala. This quaint mansion is one of the oldest existing Dutch palaces outside Holland.

Bolgatty Palace was built in 1744, by Dutch traders, and was later extended and gardens were landscaped around it. The building was the Governor's palace for the commander of Dutch Malabar, and later in 1909 was leased to the British. It served as the home of the British Governors, being the seat of the British Resident of Cochin during the British regime.
